Tasmanian employers are facing a critical shortage of skilled ICT professionals, largely due to a disconnect between recent graduates and the industry's specific needs. Many graduates lack the work-ready skills required, leaving businesses struggling to find talent that meets the growing demands of the sector. This shortage impacts productivity and economic growth, leading to delays in project completion and reduced operational efficiency.
We offer a targeted response to this challenge. Our program provides internships that equip graduates with practical, industry-specific experience, addressing the skills gap head-on. Through internships, graduates gain essential technical and soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, making them more prepared to meet the specific needs of your business. The internship is for a duration of three months for three days a week. With a six week check in and final review with the intern and their manager.
In line with the Fair Work Act 2009’s definition of a graduate seeking work experience after completing a tertiary qualification through providing a person experience in a job or industry, the internship component of the Future Ready Program is lawfully unpaid. The internship candidate will require mentoring and supervision from a qualified ICT professional within your organisation to ensure successful project outcomes.
By offering a graduate an internship, your business benefits from their fresh perspectives, potentially revitalising projects with innovative ideas. Our approach ensures a steady pipeline of emerging talent familiar with your systems and workflows, facilitating smoother integration into your workforce.
Participating in our program not only addresses the immediate skills shortage but also strengthens your business’s long-term growth and competitiveness, while contributing to the broader ICT sector in Tasmania.
